I don't think he could be called an enthusiast as he doesn't show any real feeling for Rebecca Black's video (beyond an appalled fascination witto h the autotuning) and seems only be using her as a vehicle because she's current. Which is fair enough I suppose, it does come over as butterfly vs: wheel though and beneath his acting up there seems to be that political melancholy mixed with bitterness and some snobbery that a lot of educated people possess. Yes he is being tongue in cheek, but there's truth in joking and reading phrases like "gross, benumbed mockery" and "whatever non-lives the data banks ladle out to them" left me feeling as uncomfortable as I did watching the original video. "Well if you must take it seriously, that's what a radical critique is supposed to do," you could say - but it wasn't an energising discomfort, more of an excoriated pity.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5967476903991259470.post-214090261810433752011-03-31T23:46:41.498-04:002011-03-31T23:46:41.498-04:00Did I suggest otherwise?Did I suggest otherwise?Nataliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954034499196842959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5967476903991259470.post-55807046842253412492011-03-27T23:00:15.117-04:002011-03-27T23:00:15.117-04:00umm... there are instances of satire and burlesque...umm... there are instances of satire and burlesque that predate the internet.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
